        I enjoyed looking at your various projects on your web site.  I
would like to ask you about the importantion of your crewcab.  I think
this page is still in progress.
        I bought a '73 914 in Quebec last winter, and brought it through
customs and home.  The process was made easier by the fact that the
identical model was sold in the U.S. that year, and the seller already had
the letter from Porsche of NA indicating that the car met U.S. spec.  I
paid the tariff of about 2.5% at the border and needed those documents to
obtain title and registration back home.
        My questions:
        1)  What did your letter from VW of NA say, given that the crewcab
was not sold in the States?
        2)  Did you pay the 25% tariff reportedly required to import a
"truck" from Canada?
        3)  Any troubles with title or registration once you got home?

        I am starting to think about a crewcab myself, though I would need
to get rid of my Rabbit pickup to make room.
