Subject:Re: CV Joint separation from axle shaft-REPORT

Listees,

Using the suggested Haynes method, as "tuned" by Listee suggestions, I
removed the CV joint with about five "moderate" taps of a rounded-tip drift
in the "dimple" of the shaft. The shaft "plopped" into the box of rags, as
suggested. The splines are in prefect condition.

The CV joint was replaced, previously, a part of a remanufactured half
shaft, and it gives indications of a less-than-perfect rebuild. Hence, I've
ordered joint kits from a list vendor, and, if anyone is interested, I'll
report on the installation.
