Bob, I'm not sure what prompted the rant in the first place, but Ken and Ron have gotten plenty of business and referrals from me. I also mention your shop to anyone looking for a rebuild because I've already made up my mind that when (not if) I have a waterboxer rebuilt, I'd pick you. FWIW, Ken wrote me a private e-mail that gave a compelling argument for letting the pros handle rebuilds and he mentioned you specifically. In any case, my intent for doing any kind of engine work was to learn, not to deprive anyone of a livelihood after milking them for information. I'm not going to call you for information and then buy parts somewhere else. In fact, all I did was ask the list, having in mind DIY mechanics who have done it before, what some good information resources for rebuilding are. Your web page is one of those resources. Presumably if you didn't want that information to be public, it wouldn't be there. IMHO, it's a great service to the VW community and lends much credibility to your shop. It's interesting how the most mundane questions always end up pissing off someone or other. -Karl Karl and Kristina Bloss, Trexlertown, PA '87 Westfalia Weekender "Beverley" - 190K miles http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/ PA/NJ Vanagon owner's mailing list: http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/pavanagon/
