I don't know how many of you Vanagon owners have shut their engines off, just to have it "boil over" or doing a grate deal of girgling - perhaps we ought to consider installing a similar item to help cool the cylinder jackets after shutdown - anyone ever consider this on non-diesel waterboxers? Clifford Gottschalk '89 Vanagon 7 pass stick '85 Westy auto '67 Baja Bug << I was thinking about that if the pump's purpose is to actually cool the oil (for the sake of the turbo) then maybe it is controlled by an oil temp sender instead of a coolant temp sender. Maybe one in the vicinity of the turbo? Just shooting in the dark here as I have never seen a stock turbo diesel setup before (we never had them here in the states). I have seen a few nice conversions though. >> all audi turbos from '85 up have the coolant afterrun system standard. its controlled by the thermostat the afterrun fan has. when the car is shut off, and the coolant temp is high enuf to kick on the afterrun fan, it also kicks on this little electric coolant pump that cycles coolant thru the turbo to cool it down, until the afterrun fan goes off... chris ___________________________________________________________________ Why pay more to get Web access?
