Todd,

I had the same criteria.  I wanted a good sub set up, but hated to give up
space under the rear seat.

The compromise was to mount 6" subs low in the front doors.  I am really
happy with the sound.  Works great for movie viewing.

Down side is labor/expense.  This is a very custom setup.
