Ouch!  Time for a rebuild, but go ahead and check the linkage.

You can use a bungee cord to hold it in fourth, but you will chew up the
shift fork and collar pretty quickly.  Call Daryl at AA Transaxle and
see if he will set you up on a pre-pay monthly installment plan!  Yours
might last awhile, but these syncro rebuilds start at $1300 and go up
fast if you turn your "core" into junk.
