I too am wrestling with the conversion issue, and installing a used engine to buy time. The Subaru is a great engine, but in the Vanagon it sits much lower and the oil pan is only a few inches off the ground. If Kennedy would or could make a Vanagon specific pan, or set it up with a small pan and external oil sump system for a reasonable cost I would consider it. Right now I like the Tii Trading Co. Mexican 2.0 Golf conversion. Complete, drop in conversion using a new engine with all VW parts and a 12 mo. VW warranty. Still might have to fight with mechanics to work on it, but at least everything has VW part numbers. At $3500 or so it is not cheap, but is much less than the Eurospec conversion. http://www.tiico.com/prod04.htm -- Stuart MacMillan Manager, Case Program 800-909-8244 ext 208 Getting your share of the Net yet? http://www.cobaltgroup.com http://www.casedealer.com/demo http://www.caseihdealer.com/demo
